About Wee Red Upcycles

What we do

Wee Red Upcycles is a Community Interest Company (social enterprise) which specialises in teaching valuable transferable skills in repair, re-designing and upcycling of furniture to vulnerable adults and young people within our community.

There are three principles to our work:

  • Creativity
  • Inclusion
  • Community

Founded in 2018 by Lyn Hamilton, we are based in Haddington, East Lothian.

The aim of Wee Red Upcycles is to support, educate and empower those with additional support needs by building confidence, self-esteem and breaking down barriers to support.

We encourage everyone to reach their full potential through the creative processes of upcycling furniture and making products from materials destined for landfill.

We divert furniture, textiles, paint and other materials from landfill prolonging the life of these items and promoting a local circular economy.

As Wee Red Upcycles we continue to evolve to offer support and opportunities to those who need them in our community.

    What is a Social Enterprise?

A social enterprise is a business that uses its profits for good, by reinvesting or donating them to create positive social, environmental or cultural change. The video below is a great introduction to social enterprises and how they work.
